We bought a number of magformers sets for when our grandchildren visit. This past weekend, not able to go out in the freezing cold snow, our four grandchildren, ages 12, 9, 8, and 4, played with the mag formers for hours. The youngest one, my granddaughter, proposed that they build something together. And this is their creation! My nine-year-old grandson transposes two dimensional shapes on an app called Shapes into three dimensional mag formers shapes. Geometry will make perfect sense when he gets older.
I bought this set on a daily deal. (on my husbands account) It is not often that you can get magformers for less than a dollar a piece. I bought this set to supplement my other sets. We often have play dates at our house and this is great toy to pull out for many varying ages. I often find my husband and I playing with them as well. There just never seems to be enough pieces to go around. They are a lot like Legos, you can never have too many. We already have two sets of the 30 piece set with triangles and squares and then we also have a 62 piece set with triangles, squares and pentagons. This set comes with different pieces than the others. The best way to describe the different is that they have a gray edging. They are a tiny bit lighter than the other shapes and made with a different plastic. I however HAVEN'T noticed the magnet strength being different. They still seem to be the same quality as the others. This set comes with: -two sets of wheels -4 hexagons (two with gray edging) -12 pentagons (3 red/orange, 3 purple/green, 3 dark/light blue and 3 pink/yellow -30 squares without gray edging (7 pink/yellow, 7 purple/green, 8 dark/light blue, and 8 red/organge -16 blue/orange squares with gray edging - 36 triangles with out gray edging (9 red/orange, 9 purple/green, 9 dark/light blue and 9 pink yellow -12 blue/orange triangles with gray edging -idea booklet
I purchased the Magformers Challenger set for my daughter's 6th birthday. She already had a small set that she loved to play all the time but this set will allow her to get creative and make more elaborate designs. She is very happy with her gift and spends hours playing with it
perfect set.
